During at least the first 2-3 months, it is strongly recommended to attend weekly sessions. Consistency and frequency are important as we establish our connection and to help grow momentum of treatment moving forward.
As progress is made over time, we may reduce to every other week, and then to monthly check-ins.
When you are ready to end therapy, whatever length of time we have been working together, I fully encourage a final session for us to reflect on your growth, reinforce skills you have learned, and celebrate your process.
-
It varies! Key to your progress is your level of commitment, personal engagement, and your honesty with me about how you feel it is going.
To give a brief idea:
Solution Focused Therapy (honing in on specific goals and skills) - We can often see much accomplished in 8 to 12 sessions.
Trauma / Complex Depth Work - We can expect that the time we spend together may last longer.
-
Our session work extends far beyond the time we spend together each week. As your therapist, I track and formulate your progress, keep insurance and records up to date, and work to provide you the best care I can.
On top of this are the costs of running a business, including fees involved with maintaining licensure and state laws, and keeping up with both my personal and mandated requirements to keep my skills progressive and up to date.
I wish we had a structure in place to make therapy free and available to everyone. Until that day comes, I strive to keep my fees as balanced and equitable as possible.
There are some local agencies, such as Shine a Light Counseling Center, where therapists, undergoing their training for licensure, provide mental health services at a lower cost. If my services are out of your budget, I encourage you to explore their offerings or look into the alternative options listed below on this page.

In many respects, there is very little difference between an LPCC and an LMFT.
We receive nearly identical training, and in almost every other state outside California, they are not separated into different categories.
For clarity, as stated by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, here are a few of the main differences between the two:
LPCCs: Provide counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques for individuals and/or groups to identify and remediate cognitive, mental, and emotional issues. Including personal growth, adjustment to disability, crisis intervention, and psychosocial and environmental problems.
Serves: Individuals of all ages, groups
3,000 Supervised hours required for licensure (Post graduate only)
Licensure Exam: National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Exam (NCMHCE)
LMFTs: Provide services performed with individuals, couples, families, or groups wherein interpersonal relationships are examined for the purpose of achieving more adequate, satisfying, and productive marriage and family adjustments.
Serves: Individuals, couples, families, groups
3,000 Supervised hours required for licensure (Combined pre and post graduate)
Licensure Exam: California LMFT Clinical Examination
As you can see, LPCCs take the National vs the State exam and are required to complete more supervised clinical training hours.
Because my graduate program was in Washington state, which does not divide the designations, I received what you might call combined LPCC/LMFT curriculum and oversight.

At this time, I am sorry to say the building is not wheelchair accessible. My Telehealth option is available to people restricted by this architectural barrier. Three shallow steps lead up to the door, and then there is a narrow hallway.
For those with temperature sensitivities, the room has both a heater and fan.
There is ample parking near the building entrance, and a bus stop nearby.

Upon client request, I am happy to wear a mask during our session. There is an air purifier that I use as needed.
